Transforming Homes, Transforming Lives:

At Contractormen, Inc., we believe that the service and sacrifices made by our veterans deserve unwavering respect and support. Many of our nation’s heroes return home with challenges that extend beyond the battlefield, requiring homes that accommodate their new needs. This is where we step in, working with the Veterans Administration (VA) to provide Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) projects for veterans and their families.

Our mission is not just about construction, it’s about creating spaces where veterans can reclaim their independence, comfort, and dignity. Through years of experience and a heartfelt dedication to service, we’ve developed expertise in designing and implementing modifications that transform houses into homes uniquely suited to each veteran’s needs.

Partnering with the VA to Make a Difference

Our work begins with the Veterans Administration, which provides grants through programs like the SAH Grant and Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) Grant. These grants are designed to help veterans with service-connected disabilities live more independently.

As VA-approved contractors, we collaborate closely with veterans and their families to understand their specific needs, ensuring every modification is tailored to enhance their quality of life. Whether it’s creating an accessible bathroom or adapting an entire home for mobility devices, we approach every project with care, precision, and respect for the individual’s unique story.

The Work We Do

1. ADA-Compliant Bathrooms

One of the most critical areas of adaptation in any home is the bathroom. For veterans with limited mobility, traditional bathrooms can pose significant challenges. At Contractormen, we design and build ADA-compliant bathrooms that provide safety, ease, and independence.

Roll-in showers: Spacious, barrier-free showers with zero clearance thresholds, grab bars and handheld showerheads for accessibility.

Comfort-height toilets: Easier to use for individuals with mobility challenges.

Non-slip flooring and grab bars: Preventing accidents and ensuring stability.

2. Doorway Expansions

Standard doorways can be a daily struggle for veterans who use wheelchairs or walkers. We specialize in widening doorways throughout the home, ensuring that every room is accessible without barriers and allowing seamless wheelchair access.

3. Vertical Chair Lifts and Elevators

For multistory homes, mobility can become a significant obstacle. We adapt homes with vertical chair lifts and residential elevators, enabling veterans to navigate their homes freely. These installations are not just practical but also designed to blend seamlessly with the home’s aesthetics.

4. Whole-House Generators

Many veterans rely on medical equipment or assistive devices that require uninterrupted power. A whole-house generator provides peace of mind, ensuring their home remains functional during power outages. This is especially crucial for veterans living in areas prone to storms or blackouts.

5. Customized Solutions

No two veterans are the same, and neither are their needs. From ramps and stairway adaptations to custom kitchen designs for wheelchair accessibility, we pride ourselves on providing tailored solutions that meet the specific requirements of each family we serve.

Beyond Construction: Supporting Veterans and Their Families

At the heart of our work is the understanding that a home is more than just a physical structure, it’s a sanctuary. For veterans and their families, the home often becomes the foundation for healing, growth, and new beginnings.

When we undertake a project, we see beyond the blueprints and materials. We see the veteran who will regain their independence. We see the family who will experience relief knowing their loved one is safe and comfortable. And we see the children who will grow up in a home designed with care and thoughtfulness.

Stories That Inspire Us

Over the years, we’ve had the honor of working with incredible veterans and families who inspire us daily. From a retired Navy veteran who needed a fully accessible home to enable his family to provide for his care, to a retired Army Captain whose home was adapted with cutting-edge technology for end-of-life care, every story reminds us why we do what we do. These experiences are not just projects, they’re partnerships. We work closely with each veteran and their family to ensure their needs are met and their expectations exceeded.
