Beyond Construction: Contractormen Honored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Contractormen Honored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. At Contractormen Inc., we build homes that honor our veterans’ independence and dignity. Our veterans have already done the hard work for this country. When they come home, they shouldn’t have to fight their own house just to get around. That’s why we started Contractormen Inc., and today we’ve hit a milestone that proves we’re actually making it happen. It’s a big win for our team, but an even bigger one for the families we serve

On March 2, 2026, David Walters and Contractormen Inc. were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

A Most Significant Contribution

This certificate, awarded on behalf of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, recognizes a “most significant contribution to the Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) Program”. What really stood out to Jim was how David and the team gave their all into helping veteran Edwin Cole acquire an adapted home.
Working with the SAH program is how we help veterans with service-connected disabilities stay in their homes. It’s all about modifying for independence. A huge thanks to SAH Agent Jim Jafari for the shout-out today—it means a lot to be recognized by someone who’s just as dedicated to the veteran housing as we are.

At the end of the day, though, this has always been about more than just a project!

The VA noted that the service provided by our team “clearly reflects an unselfish devotion to the task of fulfilling the nation’s responsibilities to its severely disabled veterans”.
For us, working on SAH projects isn’t just about construction; it’s about:
  • ADA-Compliant Bathrooms: Creating barrier-free roll-in showers, grab bars, and safety features.
  • Doorway Expansions: Securing seamless wheelchair access throughout the home.
  • Mobility Solutions: Installing lifts and elevators to navigate multi-story living.
  • Customized Care: Customizing every modification to the unique story and needs of each veteran.

Our Continued Commitment

Getting this kind of recognition is a great reminder of why we show up every day. From small kitchen remodels to full-scale home builds, we’re focused on one thing: making sure your home works for you, not against you. Our veterans have faced enough challenges; their home shouldn’t be one of them.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Department of Veterans Affairs for this honor and a special thank-you to Edwin Cole for allowing us to be part of his journey toward a more accessible home.
